A seat is one user account. It buys a fixed allowance of CPU, RAM, disk and bandwidth. We do not meter by the second and we do not charge for going over.

This is not a like-for-like fight, and we would rather say so. A hyperscaler VM is a dedicated, always-on machine with 2 guaranteed vCPUs. A seat is a share of an instance: 1 vCPU is guaranteed, a second is available when the host has spare capacity, and the box sleeps when idle. If you need a dedicated machine running around the clock, buy one. If you need a developer or agent box that costs the same every month, this is the number.

Public on-demand list prices, Linux, read 18 October 2026, at 730 hours per month. One US region each: AWS us-east-1 (t3.medium, gp3 disk, 100 GB of monthly egress free), Google Cloud us-central1 (e2-medium, pd-balanced disk, premium-tier egress at $0.12 per GiB after the first GiB), Azure East US (B2s, Standard SSD E4 at 32 GiB, 100 GB of monthly egress free). Each cloud's $0.005-per-hour public IPv4 charge is included. No reserved, committed-use, sustained-use, spot or free-trial discounts are applied on any side, and nothing is added for support, backups or monitoring. Disk is the smallest size that covers 20 GB. Need an isolated instance for your organization, to run on your own cloud account, or to cut an existing cloud bill? Those are priced by conversation because the right answer depends on your fleet.
No. The seat price is the whole price for the allowance. We do not meter CPU-seconds or charge for going over; the allowance is a ceiling, not a starting point.
Seats share instances and idle boxes sleep, so we pack many more boxes onto the same hardware than a dedicated VM allows. You get less than a dedicated machine, and you pay less for it. Pick on the shape you need.
The product is young and the number may move as we learn what people run.
